What is the procedure one must go through for Studying Abroad?

1. Attend counseling

One can attend counseling which will be held in the nearby locations to have an idea about how the process and what are the eligibility criteria required for applying for education abroad. They will be also provided with an idea about how the selection process goes by the same time the various job opportunities which the student may get after completing their studies will also be discussed.

2. Ask an expert

This is one-to-one meeting.  There are various counseling centers available which help to students.  One must also be very careful because some of the counseling centers are fakes and they try to grab money from the students. Now-a-days many students are getting in to this trap and losing money. So as a student one must be careful in selecting a center where he/she could get advice from an expert.

3. Selecting university and course

This is a very important process in which the student must be very careful about choosing it. Selecting the course depends upon the student’s interest.  For an undergraduate student he/she can choose a major as per his/her need.  In case of post-graduate students who have completed Engineering in their mother country, M.S would be the best choice for them. For a medicine student any specializations like FRCS and lots of other options are available.  And can choose amongst them.

Next crucial thing is selecting the university. For this the student may ask for guidance from a person who is already or who was already studying abroad. The student can also surf through websites and look for university rankings and can select the university. One must at least select 5 universities.

4. Application

Once the selection of program and university is done the next step is the application process. The student can request for application through mail from the university or the student may download it from the university website.

5. Eligibility criteria

One must ensure he/she meets the eligibility criteria before opting for education abroad. In US a formal education of 16 years of qualification is required. Certifications provided by private institutions may or may not be accepted by foreign universities. Diploma programs also may or may not be accepted by certain university.

6. Taking up tests

For non-English speaking countries it is necessary to take up tests.  Some of them are:

– TOEFL: Test of English a Foreign Language is an English Proficiency test which should be taken up by the students who are looking for admissions in US.  This test is acceptable along with TWE (Test of Written English) in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Europe and also Canada.

– IELTS:  This test is accepted by universities of Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and New Zealand.

– GRE: Required for Graduate degree in Engineering, Science and Humanities in US.

– GMAT: This test should be taken up by students who are looking for a graduation in Business/management programs in US.

7. Submit of records and recommendation letters

The students who are applying for under graduation are required to submit their school certificates for verification by the universities. For post graduate students they should submit their college records along with attestation from the principal. Letter of Recommendation also plays a vital role while looking for admission abroad. The letter of Recommendation should be given by a person who knows the student professionally. The author should discuss how long the author knows the student and also he/she should discuss about the usefulness of that particular study for the student.

8. Statement of purpose

In this part a student should briefly describe his/her strengths and how the course is valued by the student. The student should also narrate about his/her career goals. This part should be written effectively which make oneself distinguish from others.

9. Getting admission

If the student is getting admission in two or more Universities he/she can choose a university which suits best. Various aspects like the duration of the course, university rankings, education fee should be considered while selecting the university. Once selection is done, the student will be asked to pay a particular amount in order of confirmation.

10. Applying for student visa

The last step is to apply for student visa where the student got admission.
