The atmosphere at home and school greatly varies. The children who visit school have a systematic way of attending classes, labs; doing projects etc. whereas homeschooling greatly depends on the student and the teacher. As children they may get attracted to other activities like watching TV, listening to music which may prevent the students from doing their work regularly. This is one of the great drawbacks.
One way to make children more focused and concentrated towards their education is to create a study atmosphere. yEd is the software which is free of cost. It can be used by home schoolers to draw diagrams, flowcharts etc. It can be used with various platforms like Windows, Linux, MacOS. Some of the features of this software are you can automatically arrange elements, can import diagrams in various formats.
Openoffice.org:
Openoffice.org is also a useful tool to learn Microsoft office. Openoffice.org is a free of cost. It is a software package which consists of spreadsheet, presentation, drawing tool, database management application, formula editor etc. It is available for various OS like Windows, MacOS, Linux etc.
